This project was my way of coping with the untimely and sudden death of my mum. As the long winter drew on, I needed a project to lose myself in. It soon became an obsession as I tried to discover the origins of these milestones. They run along the three 'arterial' roads through the three parishes of the island. Each has one face with the capital letter of the parish ('B', 'C' and 'L') with a distance in miles, and on the reverse a distance to Kettletoft, ('K'), the main island harbour.  I have reproduced them in a hand-made book alongside the names of places passed en route and with a brief  and incomplete history. I'm still working on this one....
